This is their secret of success: Highest product quality at competitive prices. With 500 employees, Scheuch is an important employer in their region.
Interview partners:
- Mr. Gerhard Strasser (European Welding Tech-nologist) is responsible for the quality at the company Scheuch and
- Mr. Hans Hoffmann (GM) PROTEC.
H.Hoffmann: Why are spatter-free work pieces such an im-portant issue for the company Scheuch?
G. Strasser: The biggest part of our key components are welding constructions, such as casings and rotors. To be free of spatter is an absolute must for surface quality and coating.
H. Hoffmann: After several years of experience with a bio-chem. product for spatter protection, you decided to start us-ing the METALLOTION from PROTEC. Why?
G. Strasser: Having the most modern robot equipment in this industry, we were able to shorten the welding time extremely. However, there were still the high costs for removing welding spatter and burned-in residues. Using METALLOTION from PROTEC, we were able to reduce the refinish time to a mini-mum.
H. Hoffmann: Can you quantify the savings you make through the use of PROTEC?
G. Strasser: Well, you saw the pictures taken from our com-parison analysis. With PROTEC, the refinish could be reduced to a minimum. The improvement is so significant and obvious that calculation is unnecessary.
H. Hoffmann: Did references and paint approvals help your decision for changing the product?
G. Strasser: Yes. After having seen how many well-known companies work with METALLOTION from PROTEC, we de-cided to test it. Quality and process stability are decisive for us, secondly the cost-benefit factor counts! Besides mild and stainless steel as well as aluminum, we increasingly process also fine-grained steel (material no. 1.8974). The welding quality is especially impor-tant here! The safety for coating and painting is also important. The reference given by PALFINGER cranes was very helpful here.
H. Hoffmann: Is the product price a decisive factor for you?
G. Strasser: At the beginning yes. We have to watch the costs. But what is decisive in the end, are the savings realized throughout the whole production process.
H. Hoffmann: Which anti-spatter do you use for your gas nozzles?
G. Strasser: Also PROTEC - we only use one product at the workplace!
H. Hoffmann: Are you satisfied having changed to PROTEC?
G. Strasser: Yes. We reached our target: Cost savings and quality improvement at the same time!
H. Hoffmann: We are glad that an internationally successful company like Scheuch, being known for highest quality stan-dards, gives such a good reference for PROTEC. Thank you for this interview.
