Different surface finishes lead to differing process conditions when working with welding wire. The static friction, which is higher in contrast to the dynamic friction, may cause problems starting up, in extreme cases this may lead to ignition errors or burnbacks.
A poor electric contact may, among other things, cause micro arcs in the tip.
